Hi! I'm Kelly, and I am thrilled to share with you my respect for my Appalachian heritage and my love of animals through my favorite mediums.

I was born in southeastern Kentucky and reared in Wise, Virginia. I come from a culture of loyalty and pride, natural beauty and a deep appreciation for a friendly word and a good home-cooked meal. The Appalachian people work hard and use their gifts to protect their families. My goal is to represent our ancestors in my art as the strong folk they were.

This does not mean I don't have a sense of humor! I was not raised with pets, but as I have aged, I have developed a real humility in regard to animals. Are any of us truly worthy of our pets' pure and simple love!? My notecards feature dogs and cats in a way that express their unique attitudes, hopefully eliciting a giggle from the sender and receiver. Additionally, as a former high school English teacher, I am on a mission to bring back good, old-fashioned handwritten communication, so all my cards, spare one, are blank on the inside to encourage you to author your own thoughts.
